Many poor communities throughout the developing world spend around a fifth of their income on water. The cost of walking and queuing for hours to fetch clean water means children can’t go to school and adults don't have time to earn money. CARE International's water and sanitation projects improve sanitation, domestic hygiene and reduce the incidence of water-related diseases for poorer communities. We work with people in rural communities and urban neighbourhoods, helping and training them to construct and manage low-cost water and sanitation systems.
