More than two thirds of Zambia’s population is still living without access to adequate sanitation.

Diageo has partnered with CARE to help change this for over 300,000 people, but how can one donor reach so many beneficiaries?

Whether it is lack of water, education, or poor health that is affecting a community, CARE is working hard to fund projects that will find a solution for people living in poverty.

To maximize our impact, we are working with the EU to secure long term funding.

In order to guarantee these funds we are required to find ‘matched funding’ and this is where a company like Diageo comes in.

By donating to a project that requires matched funding your money multiplies.

On average for every £1 your company donates you’ll be generating a further £3.

£1 corporate donation = £3 to CARE

 

This means that by donating to CARE’s Promoting Peri-Urban Sanitation Services (PPURSS) project, Diageo will be reaching many more beneficiaries.

Diageo’s funds will ensure that people have access to sanitation facilities by providing shower blocks, laundry facilities, toilets, latrines and drainage systems.

The project will provide education on water and waste management and engage the communities in policy discussion on water and sanitation service provision at the national level.

Without Diageo’s support, the full scope of this project would not be realised.
