CARE in Pakistan

We opened our office in Pakistan in June 2005. Our work had to be put on hold when the earthquake struck later that year however; we immediately took on a large number of new staff to focus on the huge relief and reconstruction operation.

In Pakistan we:
  • improve access to education
  • improve access to water and sanitation
  • provide shelter

CARE in action:

Women

Women in Pakistan are victims of men's discrimination, which keeps them stuck in poverty without the skills or opportunities to fight their way out.
These problems are compounded by weak government policies which do not ensure that the country’s growing wealth is equally shared among those who need it.

Earthquake
Immediately after the earthquake we provided relief to thousands of people. We gave out tents to more than 75,000 people and have since trained people to rebuild their homes with earthquake resistant designs and provided health services to people as they return to their villages.
